Ask a surf shop.  Surfride shipped one of my brother's boards to NY, no issues.

Pilot Frieght.. They were GREAT..

Buy the box from a surf shop..use pipe foam on the ALL rails..

For 150 $ they picked up my board (with glassed on single fin) from the hotel room in Solana Beach and delivered it pristeen to Satellite!!!

Would have been 100 bucks if i delivered it to their depot in San Diego...

ups wanted 400$ + and i would have to cut off the glassed on fin!!

Bought my supplies from Mitch's Surf shop PCH Solana!

I have used Am trax in the past no problems cost was $85. wraped board with bubble wrap and in a board bag. took 7 days to get here.  Other boards were shipped air frienght around $150. from west coast.  Just had a board shipped from Hawaii the cost was $200. All Long Boards much less for boards less then 7'6"

I would check how much they insure it for also some of these carriers only pay cents per pound on damaged items.

Balsa Bill told me to use pool noodles, not pipe foam on the rails.

Can you ship boards to Costa Rica cheaper than the $100 each way the soulless savages at spirit charge?

Downsouthslida and i have used amtrak at least 20x...in florida

Shipping back and forth from jax to Santa cruz

Never a problem.

I get boxes , bubble wrap, tape from the home depot...poolies for rails

From pinch a penny...all pretty cheap...voila'

Only cons...are if you don't dig boxing it up yourself ...

And finding/going to amtrak station...

Jax was on mlk blvd...not the best place depending the time of day..

But people were awesome in the station...

Now that I'm back in CA...everyone seems to be able ship cheap in state ..or board train..

Anyway..Good luck
