Nice, everyone got some training on the 1m and 1/2 mile readings and what it translates to but I was blind to increasing or decreasing trends inbound without one further out...today's been a good day!

Most likely until the next huge wave knocks it out based on history.

I've been so happy with the check the waves buoys, I haven't noticed anything missing. I even know when to go north or south within the county.

Looks like it's funded by Scripps, Like the ft Pierce one 41114 and canaveral 41113, and fernandina 41112.  Probably why they renamed it.  Only has wave size/period and water temps. no wind but we'll take whatever we can get for sure! Maybe scripps is taking over the whole program and the gov't is paying them??

Cool. Hopefully this improves the weather/wave models now that it has real data input.

Nice! Just updated this basic Tide/Buoy report to use 41116 data:

If you open it on your phone and "Add to Home" on iOS or Android it'll act just like a native app. Quick and easy

For what its worth my neighbor is recently retired from the Melbourne office of the NWS, I saw him today and he said that the 41116 is being paid for by SpaceX.  For how long he does not know.  As rc pointed out the location is very close to 41009 and my neighbor called it at 3 nautical miles.  His opinion is why bother redeploying 41009 when they could use that asset somewhere else, but that is just his opinion and nothing more.  Obviously we could use the wind info that 41009 provides.  Anyway, that's what I heard.

A lot of good long period swell in the water today, www.checkthewaves.com
