I thought there was a buoy off the coast of Nova Scotia that recorded a wave slightly over 100 ft during the height of The 1991 "Perfect Storm"

I remember hearing the same thing. If any storm combo was gonna do it, that would be the one.

There was also a crazy PJ boat rescue off NC during that storm. IIRC, their visual reported similar peak wave heights.

That's an middle of the ocean wave not moving over an increasingly shallow or sudden bottom. Even then I would have loved to be at the spot where it did crest and throw over.
