Hey everyone, ive got a window to take a quick trip from the 29th of decemeber to the 1st of january. I figure on 2 days to surf and 2 days to travel. Does anyone have any reccomendations for this time of year that would be easy to get to from Orlando or even Miami if i have to? Just looking for clean surf, preferably not too big as I may have a novice along with me

Thanks in advance!!

I second that, Quick to get there, inexpensive,  and nice waves with these cold fronts.

fly into Auguadilla, well worth the extra 100 bucks. Josie Graves place is pretty nice in Jobos, you'll have like 5 or so good breaks in that little stretch, 3 of them visible from Josie's apartment. Here is the link for his place  http://oceanavenueguesthousepr.com/

I have heard good things about Tom Lukers place in Jobos also. http://www.lukersurfpr.com/

And if you're keen on staying in Rincon Tres Sirenas Beach Inn is a good option.

Tom Luker's spot is in Camaseyes roughly 5 minutes from Jobos! Only 5 mins to wildos, crash boat, surfers beach!!

Im looking to do Puerto Rico as well. The only flight to Augudilla lands at 3 in the morning.

Is that the norm??

Yup, and your return flight will be leaving at 4am in the morning.

Plan accordingly as your first day you will surf but be tired lol,
and remember the day you are leaving, you don't get to surf.
(don't oversleep either lol, if you sleep at all)

But it's all worth it (at least to me) as you are right in Aguadilla when you land
and a short drive, of course depending on where you are staying.
Everyone caters to the flight arrival times, rental cars, etc.

Anyone know the general price of the Graves place? Also, could you get away without renting a car (staying at Graves place)?

eletherua is a good one as well, if you looking for a different option. we went there a few years back in the spring and had an awesome time, waves were really good as well and the crowds were very small.

BQN is Aguadilla's LID.

Easy trip, no customs, fast flight, surfing within 1 hour of landing.  Bring sunscreen and stuff to remove urchins from your feet.I rode my 5'9 the whole time.  Some people say bring a step up.  meh, waste of extra 50 bucks each way.

Just got back from first trip down. Waves were awesome, a little rocky, be careful. Ppl were friendly in and out of water. Food was great. Weather was perfect.

BQN is an ancient tag going back to Borinquen Field, a vast construction project started before World War II,  renamed Ramey Air Force Base.

The Dominican Republic has some pretty conistent waves at Macao in the far eastern portion of the country near Punta Cana. There is a great surf camp that rents good quality boards cheap. January-April are their best months. There are also plenty of waves west near Caberte. If you can Fly into Puerto Plata and rent a car, you can hit all the best spots pretty easily. There are some direct flights from Orlando, and tons from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. I was just there last week (Macao) and caught it about 2 ft. +overhead. I love the island and the people.
