With the sun out in full force this summer just wondering what everyone else is using for good in water protection that lasts long and protects good. Going on trip to Bali next month have to stock up on some sun screen not sure what to buy since seems that everything I've been using over years is hit or miss.

I've been using Nuetrogena Beach Defense lately. Excellent. I still like the Bullfrog Water Armour and the Aloe Gator.

Always wear a rashguard. Wear a hat if out of the water. I wear contacts in the water that offer protection and always sunglasses on shore,

Most of the people I know have been to the Dermatologist considerably with scars to prove it.

Take all precautions.

Whatever it is, make sure it's mostly the inorganics, zinc and titanium oxides. ...like ~15% at least. The easiest one to find is Coppertone Water Babies Pure and Simple. It still has some of the questionable organics (2 to be exact), but it definitely does the job.

Coppertone Sport has worked the best for me.  For whatever reason I always seem to get sunburn when using Bullfrog or Aloe Gator.

Coppertone Sport stays on well in the water, plus it doesn't contain Oxybenzone. I use the lotion, not the sprays.

has anyone heard the theory that sunscreen will degrade if you leave it in the hot car,  day in day out. Like seriously where else would you leave it when you want it to always be there when you hit the waves.

Inorganics (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) won't degrade under car conditions. The organic components that are also suspect for actually leading to free radicals which can mess with your skin cells could possibly degrade under extreme temperatures or under hot temperature cycling for extended periods of time, but I've not looked for scientific journal publications to confirm or support that theory.

Non-surf industry sunscreen that received the highest rating in Consumer Reports. I've been using it for about a year or two and found it to be highly effective even in some of the hottest places I've gone on surf trips to (Central America). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CML1XE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Interesting subject. It seems like every summer there is a warning about some chemical in last year's sunblock. From what I've read over the years, the safest bet is stick to titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. I like the Ocean Potion sunblock for your face in the round jar. It works really well for me. I am still trying to find a more traditional style lotion sunblock for everywhere else. The sprays are so convenient, but they are nothing but chemical cocktails.

I was at State Cup 2 weeks ago and they handed out a lot of samples of the Nuetrogena Beach Defense. I think it is relatively new. I rubbed this stuff all over my dome and face. Guess I didn't get any in my eyes. Was out in the water with it last weekend...good result there also....

Last time I got Aloe Gator was at Ocean Sport World. I think you can get it online at Amazon also.....

The only sunscreen that I have found that does not burn my eyes, is one from Australia called Blue Lizard.  A little expensive but well worth it. I only use it on my face and tinning hair.  i use the nuetrogena beach on everything but my face and head.

I agree on Blue Lizard. Stays on long in the water and doesn't burn my eyes. I used to find it at cvs but haven't found it lately and ordered it online. Good stuff!

Nuetrogena is supposedly the most toxic to the wearer, though I'm sure anything they dish out is less harmful than skin cancer.

Aloe Gator is the only thing I used for 20 years, but I haven't been able to find the real stuff as of late.

Its the bullfrog that burns like a mutha trucker....

$29 is cheap compared to the cost of my last derm visit Currently, using the waterbabies on body and OP zinc on face as mentioned above, but I think I will look into the gator and lizard stuff too.
