I am super stoked to present an awesome story from the Ron Jon Surf Shop team where 68 year old Bob Freeman is literally and metaphorically passing the torch on to 12 year old William Hedleston. Bob has been surfing for over 50 years and was on the original Ron Jon's team while William is a rising grom in the next generation of great surfers.

This project was so much fun getting to work with Bob and William but my favorite part was getting to interview Bob and hear his awesome story. I hope everyone enjoys this one as much as we did!

Great video!  Bob is a legend!

And William is a really nice kid, he's a good ambassador for Ron Jon's.

Way to go Freesurfs and young William the heir apparent!

Glad I met Bob so many years ago (30+) and I can say that I inspired him to wear contacts so that we both could see, among other things out surfing, all the critters around us. Of course it did improve our surfing a bit, too.

Great presentation and a huge thanks to Ron Jons over the years for their support of so many local surfers.

I stopped in there several weeks back for some board shorts, a leash, etc. and was treated like a king by the general manager Mike Pryor. Very cool store in my opinion.

And NPI13 for all his great video work!

I remember going to a class at UF a long time ago in a Ron Jon's tee that was almost as old as I was and another student, obviously not from Brevard, told me "only kooks went to Ron Jon's". I told him there wasn't anything before that little shop and I'd seen a lot of pros buy real surfboard wax there so I did, too.

I can get wax anywhere on the beach now, of course, so I don't get up there hardly anymore and it's too busy to stop in for a bar now, anyway, but a friend flew in as a hurricane swell arrived and we stopped in on the way from the airport for a rash guard and a leash at 11pm and we appreciated the 24/7 access to gear.

Times change, the best adapt, and Freeman rocks.

24/7 is way cool. I think we as core locals have failed to see the benefit of thier convenience and now I hear you can show your drivers license and get an instant 15% discount.

Was blind as a bat my 1st trip in '86 ... couldn't recognize landmarks from the water and got lost on the beach...lol

really feeling the years now
lot slower getting to my feet
not giving up on shortboarding

just surfing weekends
planning on retiring at age 70 then surf all the time

William is awesome
so is Dalton!

Dan... I'm no legend, but thanks for the kind words

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback everyone! Very blessed to work with such awesome people. Bob is basically a grom for life and having the opportunity to interview him and shoot for a few weeks got me stoked.

William has a nice solid foundation and good wave knowledge for his age. Now it's time to start busting out and get a solid repertoire of airs nailed down, then move on to big waves.

Pro surfing ain't the three to the beach like it was when most of us were young.
