Have no idea who she is, but bet she charges. Jumped off the Daytona Beach Pier yesterday to avoid the paddle out. http://www.news-journalonline....Main&MaxW=445&border=0

Anyone can jump off the end of a pier.  If she was a charger she would of done the paddle out.

We've all paddled out through big chop hundreds of times and it gets old... Nothing to prove, it's resourceful and a little more creative.  Not that she invented this alternative method of getting outside, it's also fun when it's an option.  Don't knock it til you try it.  I've done some piers, Steamer Lane's a fun step off the cliff into frigid water too, but there you are ready to surf.

I'll join the pissing contest. Done steamers and many piers myself.

Don't jump with the board under your arm and land that way. (See pictures in website) it's how you hurt yourself or buckle your board on the jump or both (seen both) ... Hold leash in hand and jump holding board, throw board just before hitting water (while holding leash in hand).

So trick, yeah I guess.

Doesn't make you a charger though.

Smart- yes.

Happy holidays

I've seen at least two vids of people jumping off a pier, getting their leash caught, and making fools of themselves.

But who knows how many times the girl in the photo paddled back out or jumped off that day.

Maybe she was in a hurry to get a few waves before work.

No major judgment here as long as she didn't go head first.

Charge on!

hmmm, guards didn't normally let surfers do that in Daytona.  It was a total washout in Daytona this morning at high tide.  Just broiling whitewater and dirty foam. Low on the fun scale, and I normally like big sloppy chop.  Victory at sea in Volusia compared to Brevard are two really different sea states.
