Any ding repair specialist/surf shops want to host a Ding Repair Party?

I'm sure many people, including me, have small dings that need repaired. But, typically I don't want to wait weeks to get it fixed.

Thus, someone advertise a ding repair party. Have all the supplies set up and do it in a parking lot or something and everyone shows up and gets dings fixed while wait. Like a Jiffy Lube for your oil change in you car.

Good idea? Dumb Idea?

My dings are either so small, I can handle it with some sun cure and I wouldn't go to a party for it.

If it's a significant ding I need someone to do it right and I would probably travel for that. Are you suggesting the host would be someone with the expertise to do the repair on site?

I would be up for that - I'm sure when I strip the wax from my board there will be a few. I could make irish car bomb cupcakes, but not cookies!

"So when is this happenin"

When someone steps up to the plate and makes it happen! It is a good opportunity to generate some business, with the added bonus that we all get our little dings fixed.

I hate giving my board up to a shop only to wait two weeks.

Here are the issues, a good ding repair where it looks good, color matches and the glass in smooth and the transition from ding to normal board is not noticable is actually a lot of work to do.  Ding reapir guys are way under-paid for the amount of time it takes to make a perfect repair.

Other isssue is cost...Sandpaper of many grit types and wet sand paper cost $$, resin and catalyst cost $$, acetone, lint free cloth cost $$, pigmenets , fiberglass and/or microballons cost $$, even good protective gloves cost $$$, and man you do not want to know what a real respiartor for organic fumes cost $$$$, so let say dust mask cost $.  Protective eyewear cost $, masking tape and masking papaer cost $$, buckets , stirrers and misc items cost $$

Good luck to this party....better off just getting some COTS ding repair kit and watch a you tube video.

Minor dings - easy not too much $$ but you will have those who will show up with buckled boards and broken fins, ripped out FCS plugs, snapped nose or even a board in two pieces, even a large gash that requires a layer of fiberglass is a lot of work, resin, sanding.  I wish the posiiblilty of this event to happen, sounds ike a great time and learning experience just got to look at the big picture
