A friend of called to tell me his 15 y/o son had his board stolen Sunday at 15th street around 1:30pm. Sounds like he was taking a break from surfing, sitting on the beach and decided to go in for a quick swim for a few minutes. Within 10 minutes or so it was gone. He should have been watching, but most 15 y/o kids don't have a real grasp of how many scum bags that are out there. Here's a pic. It's not great but all he could provide my. If anyone knows anything please PM me. Thanks...SammyB

That really sucks. We were surfing at 16th street Sunday, and someone stole our soccer ball while we surfed and my wife and daughter were reading.

Where was the board exactly? There is a hotel between 16 and 15 right? What are the dims?

I'll be looking on Craigslist? Also look at the surf shops that buy boards.

Thanks for the input. It doesn't look like the one on Craigslist.

But the one on Craigslist is selling for $375 not $200. So, maybe the $200 one is the one we're looking for. We just want the board back. No hassle.

Sharkey, it was nice talking to you on the phone today. Like I said, it would be great if we could make arrangements with cocoa beach PD and figure out how to do a periodic sting operation where some of the not so recognized locals would set up just leaving some stuff unattended for a while with the PD cooperation and try to catch some of these scum bags. Do this on a random basis over an extended period of time...this problem could be eliminated. Oh, and we would have to continue to do it. Because these little shit heads would think that we think we have solved the problem and got complaciant. Then they would get right back into business. This would need to be an on going effort with new people coming on board to help all the time. And, the PD would need to know that we are serious and want to do things within the law to clean up our beaches.

Think of it as a community service!

Sadly, that wasn't the only board stolen that weekend.

It would absolutely be a worthwhile community service. Who else is up for making a contribution? Even if you haven't been affected by this scourge, if you are a member of the surf/beach community, someone you know or someone they know has been effected. The local law enforcement simply do not have the resources to handle it alone. With a little help from the community we could partner together to get rid of this. This crap has got to stop!!! Maybe an local LEO or someone connected in local government could chime in a give advice.

I'd do it. I have an old beater longboard that I'd challenge anyone to run away with . It'd be like a sea anchor on them - cops could scoop them up with a butterfly net.
