I lived in Newport Beach many years back. I thought I would stay there.

I was back that way last week for some biz. I think I caught the Cali fever.

I got off the plane at John Wayne and the first thing I saw was a "Hobie Bar and Grill" Bamboo and surfboards. That night I had dinner at the Deck in Laguna Beach, I just started feeling it as the sun went down.

So I'm heading back for some vacation most likely this coming September.

I have most things figured out.

I need some help with a board. I just cant see going to Cali and bringing my Florida boards.

Anyone one know of rentals in the area?

How about buying one there and leaving it for sale on consignment. Know anyone out there who would do that?

Also, how about buying one there and having it shipped back.

I appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Not far from Newps or John Wayne, at the intersection of Main Street and PCH in Huntington Beach (right across from pier) you have Jacks Surf Shop and Huntington Surf and Sport. Both big enough they probably have the rentals covered.

Several others within a stone's throw if this link works:

Oh well, link broken for me (at least from work), but it was the map resulting from a google search for Huntington Beach Surf Shop. Several other shops, ding repair shops, etc pop up in red.

There's also a Wahoo's Fish Tacos at the same intersection, plus several more all over Irvine, Newport, etc...

The last time I was in HB I rented a board from Zacks http://www.zackshb.com/

Great area. Although I prefer northern california. With the prices of used boards there I would buy one from Craigslist and if you like it bring it home, or consign it. Even better make friends and stash it away for when you come back.

Irrelevant to surfing, but not bad for atmosphere, a local shopping mall has a nice palm collection. South Coast Plaza.

Everyone deserves a palm break.
