Wow did they under score Kelly's first wave with the rail 360 and only barrel of the heat. 5.6? Does variety score at all? Or is only about repeated cutbacks.

Here is the recap.

they always seem to underscore his barrels when nobody else is doing them...some how he manages to find them when no one else can...you would think that would be worth more points!

And worse yet, they emphasize HOW difficult the carving 360 is, so why not give him a 5.83? I see what you mean.

Watched a lot of it.   Kelly got underscored for sure and his tactics may have changed because of that.  Freddy P got two solid waves.  Kelly has Jack Freestone next.  Dane is a wreck.  He's up against Mick in the elimination round.  CJ has adriano de claimo.   Pretty much everyone at that level is amazing.  Silvana Lima may finally take it to the next level for the women.

That wave looks so fun.  The forecast is for smaller but they might start it again this afternoon...

I think they like to see Kelly work for it. They want to see him in every heat. No problem. Again no body did that carving 360 that I saw all day.

Are any of you picking the Fantasy Surf on WSL? Kind of addicting. You want to get in early on the season and remember to vote for the woman too.

I love the `Heat Analyzer` I went back and watched Round ones` highest scored waves of each heat.

Having done that you start to see patterns that you either love or hate about these guys surfing.

The too quick flick at the top with the arms and shoulders raised is annoying. The smaller guys just dont show well, too flicky.

The taller guys have much better power and pump so much better, faster and further, either going down the line or in their wrap around cutback, think Bede, Joel, Jordy. and thats just the frontsiders.

Joel still amazes...Same with Kelly

Bedes waves were a step above all I thought from the replays. Go have a look.

Thoughts?

Add Kolohe and John John to the list of regular footers that are tall and rip.   Bede kills it at the Snapper venue.

Rewatching  Kelly's first wave where he got a 5.83 with a 360 (watch it in slow motion) and tube and smacks is a total joke.  Hopefully the judges will now overscore him for a couple of rounds to make up for it.

My WSL F-team is Kelly and Gabby (20 bonus points): Brother, Seabass (20), Bede (20) and Taj: CJ and Dusty (20).

Is it possible to form a Fantasy Group for 2nd Light? Maybe there already is one?

I think there are a couple... I started one last year. Coincidentally, I ended up winning. Eat it, Greensleeves! It's called 2ndlight Forum. the problem is, nobody in there knew how to talk junk...in fact, nobody in there even posted anything! As such, it was a very anticlimactic win for me.

Uhhhh... There was already one of that name, and it's public (i.e. no password). Why not just add yourself to that club and bring on the smack talk?

Well, , , , let me get this straight, , , ,

Kelly did an easy 360 and got a crappy tube, so he deserved the 5something.

While, Freddy did a lot of masterful cutbacks and got a 7something?

I'd join Karma's group Spink so we have a bigger group but I can't find it no matter how I search for it. Perhaps you can give us a link to it Karma?

If I can't find it by the end of the day I'll start signing people up for the "new" 2nd light forum group.

Daner, feel free to start your own. I'm in like 3 different ones. But, the club is a public one with no pw. It's called:
