This Huffington Post item makes the distinction between tourists and surfers (including bodysurfers), drowning and spinal cord injuries.  The beaches with the most drownings are the ones with the most visitors.  Inexperienced/out of shape snorkelers are a big drowning problem. 

Along those lines, Inertia had a story (from Instagram) on an injury at Pipeline that needed a rescue, stretcher ride to the hospital, scans--and no spinal cord injury.
