Hey Gents-

thinks about a 3-4 day surgical strike to PR. I am looking for aplace that has me as close tothat little Pub on the beach at Maria's as possible. looking for something very pcost effective- but not having any rodents sharing my bedding!

Thanks for any thoughts you can share- thinking about landing on one of those middle of the night flights and renting aboard on the beach. Just a back packa nd a couple of traveling companions. Also- any ideas on transfers from Aguadilla airport and back would be most appreciated as well.

if anyone has first hand lernings thanks for sharing!

Just up the hill is 413 apartments and the lazy parrot. It's a long walk but very short drive. We stay at the LP every year. Very cool pool bar & they have budget rooms available. Very clean & great place to stay. Never stayed at 413.

Rincon Rental has comfortable condos with a beach break right out back and is close to multiple surf spots.

How's the drive from San Juan? The BQN flights make me tired just looking at them.

my choice is drive from San juan. It's not that bad. The middle of the night flight sounds a lot worse to me.

Middle of night flight is piece of cake. Orlando to auga 2.5 hrs. 40 min drive to rincon sleep a bit then surf.  We did it in march and if my whiny ass wife can do it. You guys can lol

10 min drive to TIA. Cheap direct flights to SJU and then a 2 hour road trip. Vs 1 hr drive to MCO, more expensive middle of the night flight and then a 30 min drive to Rincon.

Waves today at Surfers Beach are lined waist to chest + weak and with some side shore wind on it. Fun enough and warm. Looks like it'll be like that all week. Dinner tonight at Red Flamboyan.

TPA to SJU it is. One more question, any recommendations of hotels by the airport? I don't want to make that 2 hour drive in the dark.

I'd take the morning flight & head straight out. Even the late flight not too bad to head straight over. But for a night in San juan I'd stay at the water club or any place in Islam verde. Lots of high end places too.

That flight into BQN is a hardcore surfers dream. You don't miss any surf the first morning, and if you live within a couple hours of MCO you can make it to work the next morning after a full day of surf.

I stayed here

http://www.paradorvillasdelmarhau.com/

I have expensive taste though
Down the way from Jobos, not too far from Rincon, and there
is an onsite restaurant that is solid, cool little cover to chill in
if you don't wanna do a damned thing, and it's dark enough
to chill out at night, watch the meteorites zoom through space,
toot the fish whistle, and just relax

well worth the stay and nice bedding too.

Wanted to throw my opinion into the hat as well. I just got back from PR yesterday. I was traveling alone, so I wanted to find a cheap place with easy access to the beach. I was looking on Airbnb, but then I found Tom Luker's place recommended on an older 2ndlight thread. It was $35/night for a single person. It was my first time surfing in NW Puerto Rico, and I'm really glad I ended up staying with him. He's a super cool guy in general and seems to know pretty much everyone on the island who surfs. He wakes up before dawn every day and checks the buoys, then will help you find the best spot to surf. Being my first time there, I never would have found many of the breaks that he took me to. It's not like surfing in Florida where every beach is pretty much the same. To get the best surf you have to be mobile and have some local knowledge of where to go. I was trying to start my own thread on my trip and post some pics, but I can never seem to figure out how to get the photos to show up correctly on this forum. I read through the old "how to post pictures" thread, but am still having trouble. Maybe someone can help?
