@ww, new camera (1 week) Canon FD 500mm f4.5 (manual focus) I had shot with
the combination about a week ago at the wetlands.

the funny thing was that I went back yesterday afternoon with the Oly OMD and
the combination was too strong (too close to the surfer) to use. It will end up being
perfect for "down the beach" shots.......... ;-)

The real champ that morning was the belly boarder. He was getting more & better
rides but sadly the images aren't that good as I was still making adjustments on
the camera......... ;-)

Great results with the Canon and perfect focal length for surf photos.  I'm using an Olympus OM-D setup with their 300 mm zoom lens.  I'm starting to play with what should be a competent little video cam that uses Olympus/Panasonic lenses, a whole different world.

I love the OMD!! I have a collection of fast, manual, Nikon lenses that
have new life thanks to the IBIS in the OMD!!

I've been happy with a used, fast (1: 2.8-3.5) 50-200 mm autofocus Olympus lens that requires an adapter.  The optics are very good, so it could also use a telecoverter.

I haven't properly looked at used Nikon lenses for the OM.   It would make sense to invest in a good Nikon or Canon adapter to take advantage of their wonderful older lenses that will benefit from Olympus's camera-body image stabilization system.

Three more shots from the afternoon. This was when I mounted
the Olympus OMD to the 500mm. The first shot shows just how
close the combination made the shot.

not much room to move and very little wave information..... this
was from the crossover, shooting straight out.

Shot # 2 is shooting down beach to the south (roughly the next crossover)

and finally a little girl & the thrill of the surf...... ;-)

Nice to see your pictures again, it's been a while. The lighting on the first few is incredible.
