Hello all, I had someone at the Cocoa Beach Pier steal my surfboard today. After my heat I went to check the heat scores and when I came back it was gone. It is an all white PELI board shaped by Todd Holland. It had an aqua blue trak top on it. The board says that is was shaped for Chris (blank #251). It is a 5'9". I appreciate you keeping your eyes open for a while. The attached photo is the best one I've got. Thank you.

hard lesson tolearn but you can never leave anything unattended at the beach, so far I have had: flip flops stolen towel stolen surfboard stolen skatebaord stolen sun glasses and a raggaty shirt stolen coffee cup stolen
this is over a 15 year period at a very local break with 0 parking and a small trail for access. (surfboard was stolen out of my front yard)
If unattened, it will be gone.
sorry for your loss, life's tough learning lessons |

Have no idea the backstory, but i'll go out on a limb and say he'll get it back. 9 out of 10 of these threads turn out. Keep your eyes peeled but dont rush to judgement. if you have to steal, surfboards are not your best option. They always turn up.

I got my board back! Thank you all for keeping the search up. I cannot thank you enough for your concern and all your effort. The last I saw of the thief was him in back of a police car heading off to the station. |

The thief decided to go surf the pier! A great person was able to identify the board, confront him and call the police. When I arrived, I had Todd's blank number and board specs in my hand. I knew it was my board but wanted to show the police the information. When we looked at the board blank number we discovered that the thief had tried to scratch it out and, with a pen, attempted to put another number on it! The thief had also taken off my trak pad and replaced it with another and covered the top deck with neon orange wax (that should have been another felony charge). When I got home I took the trak pad off (and the wax!) and discovered that the thief had etched his initials on the deck underneath the trak pad. What was really weird was that he had poured what appeared to be pen ink into one of the fin boxes. It was dripping with the ink! I spent an hour cleaning it out and used half a bag of cotton balls trying to get the ink out. Every time I think about it I find myself shaking my head. Though I had a remorseless person (even when caught and put in the police car) steal my board, I was and am very greatful of all of you who shared a concern and took care to help me look for it. That was the first and only time I had ever left a board on the beach but I am more wise than before. Thank you all.

The miscreant probably saw the stolen board report on here so figured he could disguise it? Good eyes on whoever spotted it under the orange wax. Nothing like orange for a "don't look here" appearance. ------------------------- add a signature since I'm here in profile anyway |

Glad to hear you got it back, nobody likes a thief. I've heard the suggestion of putting owner info in the (Future) boxes so maybe he thought he was hiding something there?
