most prob know by now...
CB Pier purchased by West Gate Resorts.

Lotsa changes on the drawing board...

Build a big Time-Share with 4 story parking on the backside of their parking area.
Prob tear down Ricky's Ice Cream bldg and replace with trendy shops.
Prob tear down the hot dog stand at the foot of the pier and replace with multi-brand vendors, such as Starbucks.
Prob add a 2nd story to AwShucks at the base of the pier, making it kinda like Grills at Port Canaveral.
Upgrade all the Pier's restaurants and bars.
Reconfigure the shopping stores.
Drug testing and background checks for present and future employees.

Rumors of building a new more modern concrete pier not verified
Hopefully... No Surfing or Fishing changes

RonJon Resort also just sold to Orange Lake Resorts.

yup talk on the street
and mentioned by a local "in the know" says
possible no surf area within 200 feet of pier - but that is rumor
lots to be worked out yet

edit
there was also mention of a possible - surfing only no swimming - area
but much will need to be talked about and worked out

While I'm not a huge pier attendee (sorry Mr. PierOwnage), this does not sound good. It's a classic venue and has so much history. Take Hurricane Sandy for example, the hard NNW winds made it the perfect Brevard location for the Big Saturday before BIG OFFSHORE SUNDAY ... I take it for granted as it's always been there. I hope this doesn't spell the end. 200 feet from the pier would be unacceptable.

Sounds like good news. I have lived in the area for my entire life and I have only been to the pier a few times. It always seems so dumpy there, I always avoided the place. The pier could definitely use a facelift.

hello everyone, this is Sean Volland, da "original and only" Colonel on this site so this moron calling himself "TheColonel", nor Pier Ownage, nor quarter pound water buzzard are me. I havent posted on here in over a year and this is my avatar; others in the past have been, Iluvsheepinlace, Greeneyedeep, and OICU812, but I just wanted to clarify that as well as to say that I will be surfing in, out, up and down, and all around that friggin pier no matter if Putin and the Russians invade it and West Gate resorts can kiss my skinny lil CC Rats ass. all u other posers post as me are just jealous kooks who couldnt surf the pier if God gave you a hall pass, and copy catting is the best form of flattery, so I just needed to clear all of that up, and yes, ... Im flattered!!!  See yall on da Northside!!!!   SV  aka "da Col."

The closing date I believe is April 29 or 30 for 7M...or maybe it's 8, I forget. The owner seems keen on keeping things pretty local feeling while doing some significant upgrades to the building and property. Looks to be the best thing that could happen to the place. It's definitely weird to have it go from the hands of a local family to a major player in timeshare real estate and tourist/hospitality industry.

Upside:
1. The structure needs an overhaul badly, and a low sale figure that could potentially yield future better revenue could be used to improve the safety of the pier and buildings.
Downside:
1. More crowds.
2. Long term construction.
3. Abounding law suits from adjacent beach properties from said construction.
4. Loss of municipal fishing areas. (Might be a plus for surfers!)
5. Raised municipal parking fees (to offset tax breaks from this project and collateral law suits).

Actually, might not all be gloom and doom....you could be the "real-tor" on the transaction.

Time Share owners??? I know I just vomited in my mouth....

In other words, Here comes Disney,,,,,, totally sucks if you ask me...

Same BS going on all over town, from the Port to DownTown isgust;

If you dont like the look and feel of the well worn, laidback, weathered Cocoa Beach, there`s the door,,,,, If it makes you uncomfortable, youre not meant to call it home...

Just sayin`
