Well he is currently ranked 16th in the world and he's 18 so you probably should get used to him.  It's not like he doesn't belong, he's won over $170K in prize money in the last year.

Well if that's true, I stand corrected. But at least Slater has earned the right to break boards.

KA just rubs me the wrong way. Obviously never met the guy, but he comes off as a punk via his social networking accounts and stunts like this.

For comparison, check 19-year old Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals.  He grew up in a hothouse and is obviously getting guidance in how to behave like an adult.  In terms of behavior, adulthood doesn't begin until about age 24.

^What's he going to do, swim in? lol

He should get a fine for intentionally polluting and littering in Fijian waters.

Mens Round 2, Heat 9 - you can go straight to the last wave of Kolohe's and see his meltdown after it.

I used to volunteer with a big brother's program and the boy I mentored was into skating. I would take him to the skatepark and had to try to explain why the 17 year old kids throwing their skateboard and breaking it cause they couldn't land some trick were lame and hoping their buddies thought they were intense.

But then again I've gotten angry enough after scrapping parts in the shop that some metal has gone flying into the big roll up door making a very satisfying bang.

I guess what I'm saying is that, like Chris Rock used to say,  I don't condone it, but I understand.

I felt bad for him for a second until I realized I worked part-time from 16 to 18.  Full time from 18 to 27.  And ALWAYS went to school full-time.  Almost all in surf-starved sofla.  Jax for 3 years but I worked 60~80 hrs a week then.

So HELL NO do I feel sorry for him.  For whatever his rampant trollishness, 90lb is right this time.

Khloe could probably have any chick he ever wanted (and probably has), gets to surf ANYWHERE he wants, whenever he wants, with whoever he wants.  Nike, Target and Red Bull pay his bills.

This kid needs a coke habit, a downward spiral, a burnout, rock bottom and then Jesus.

You can't write Kolohe off by this one action think of the situation as a whole. Your in Tavarua surfing Cloudbreak and you see all the morning heats go through perfect 6 foot plus sets barrels galore long lefts. Then your heat comes up absolutely no sets come through. The heat has to be restarted and after the restart you wait 7 more minutes until a rideable wave comes through then all the remaining waves are either low scoring waves or closeouts. Kinda of a crappy way to get eliminated from a contest especially from Cloudbreak which is agruably one of the best lefts in the world. I agree the board breaking was a bit too much and over the top, but writing off his complete character by him breaking his board is a little exaggerated.

I'm 100% a hardliner when it comes to the whole ASP/PRO surfing would get on with Bobby Martinez well!!! spent some time watching the cast and thought wow this is really cool to see after 50 yrs of surfing/travel never been to a place like TAVARUA after about the 150th time one of the lame announcers told me I'm here and your not Mr. AVERAGE surfer started to think about what truly a bunch of elite kooks these guys really are for the most part..... there are exceptions ...and then seeing "BROTHER" freak at the end of the heat did a flash on all my yrs of struggling to surf  to this day.... was so happy to surf BERYL and these guys are going to the bank to surf that wave and he is acting like a 2yr old screw that no excuse the waves were unreal during his heat not as good as the previous and T.Pires took it too him and beat him fair and square $7000 and 10 more days of that place get a life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SUPER LAME! After watching the vid I was appalled that the "Surfers" were eating fish tacos! Fish Tacos in FIJI! That is like going to Italy and eating BBQ ribs. They should be eating Palusami and Tavikoa. Keep it real folks! I bet those surfers that go there every year do not even know the Kava ritual.

Brand new Mayhem round tail = well um, free for Kolohe

Nike, Target, Red Bull board stickers = free again for Kolohe

Board returning a blow after his childish punch = Priceless!

In my experience, taking your frustration out on inanimate objects like your equipment is lame.  Imagine if the nose of his board had stuck him in the eyeball when it popped back and hit him in the face potentially ending a much hyped career.  Now that would have been a tough lesson.  All the big money contracts don't change the fact that at the end of the day, he's still an 18yr old kid who has some growing up to do.  Welcome to the big leagues "Brother"..

Keeping your cool is the coolest thing to do.
