Watching the Fiji Pro live I witnessed an abomination of the image of the ASP perpetrated by its up and coming star child known as "brother." "Brother" savaged attacked and destroyed his surfboard after losing his heat. This kook is sending out the wrong message to his fans that its not the surfer's fault or lack of skill, rather the equipment's. This encourages poor surfing, poor self discipline, and poor sportsmanship; ironically, something the ASP seems to condone as of late....

Was AI the face of his generation? Was he the most hyped surfer ever? Was he sponsored by nonsurf brands like Target? No, so his actions did not affect as many surfers as Kolohe's little outburst will.

I'd throw a tanty too if I blew a heat like he did.  Kicking out of a wave with only a minute left, nothing out the back and only needing like a 4.0.  Rookie mistake.  I'll bet Dino's all up in his grill right about now.

LB just go to heats on demand round 2 and then just go to the last wave .. its kind of crazy but when you blow that kind of money you would be a lil upset with your self too ..

I wish the board could hit back.

Brother, when you get a minute, could I get a list of the words that trigger these fits?

Hey. Where are we going? (And what are we doing in a hand-basket?)

Did u ever stop to think that maybe the board had an ancient Polynesian curse placed on it, or it was perhaps shaped by a cannibal next to a causeway in So Fla? OR maybe the board WAS indeed a piece of crap....were you there, Turkeybag? i'd want that board out of my quiver, too.

I don't think he's the face of a generation! He's way over hyped! He looked ridiculous breaking his board! If you watch close when he went to finish breaking it, it smacked him in the face. Spoiled kid!

Wilson, Medina, Florence, Jordy, ... I bet his tantrum was the culmination of frustration from his entire season. He's showing a lot of rookie...and tantrums only accentuate it.

This is a classic example of emotion overwhelming rational thought. Sucks to lose, but I doubt Slater would break a board.

The funniest part is he breaks that board and then ONE MORE wave sneaks through. Lol, granted he probably couldn't have gotten on it before the buzzer, but imagine if he had a broken board and enough time to stand up on that last wave. Now THAT would have been funny.

He just looks like a baby out there. The next John McEnroe of surfing. Ha

Actually, Slater has taken frustration out on boards...most recently Bells.

After you successfully ride the earth around the sun 4 times, there is no excuse for throwing a fit.

Time to grow up, shake your opponent's hand and act like a man.

Matuity deficience is surfing is no different than it is in every other sport.  This kid was probably started to believe in his own press releases and he got schooled by his own inexpirience and arrogance.  I too remember when AI would throw his tantrums and the reporters would jam a microphone in his face as he was storming out and I laughed at all of the ways he would insult Kelly and whine about the bias in the judges.  He was a baby.  Even so, that was unfair to not let him at least walk off beach and talk to him later.  This kid sounds like he needs that same lesson.

Kolohe obviously does not belong on tour. He gets knocked out of contests by the first or second round almost every time. He is a publicity stunt because he is so young, and "Brother" is not exactly garnering the most positive vibes. He is arrogant, selfish, completely sheltered by Dino, and, to top it off, a "little b!tch."
