I surf because once I hit the water, nothing else matters. Most of all though, it is the thrill I get from never knowing what will happen once I do get in the water. Every time you step foot in the ocean, it could honestly be your last, no mater how much of a waterman you are.

Well, i surf because,... i hate golf, chicks dig surfers, i can pee in my shorts and noone cares, and it occupies my daytime hours that might be consumed with cheap beer binges and the fondling of farm animals!

When I was younger it was because there was nothing else to do in Satellite but fish and surf, now it is for having fun excercise.

Classic!

I surf because it's fun and helps to keep me at peace with everything going on in the world.

I surf because when I moved to Florida 22 years ago my options were surf, golf, or run the streets like a thug. I still hack a good golf ball, I will always stay in the ocean because mom and dad told me to and they are laid to rest with mother mother ocean....

Love and Respect our waters....

It's the urge. It won't go away. Every since that time in 89' when I was pushed into a wave in south Daytona and stood right up, I've had the urge to try it again and again.

I wondered if it would fade away like the urge to keep skateboarding did. But it didn't. I wondered if it would fade away after high school. But it didn't. I wondered if would fade away after age 30, wrong again. I wondered if it would fade away after getting married and settling down. Not even close.

I haven't taken a break for a year or even sat out for a winter or summer season since the summer of 89'. And I don't see taking any breaks or quitting coming in the future either....

It's definitely an urge you can't resist. No matter what, it seems we stay hungry for an even better experience. We'll travel across the world to satisfy this hunger, and unsatisfied (even with perfection), we'll travel again.

^Junkies, really. People like us would probably have to go to intensive rehab to try and break the surf urge. And I'm sure there's a few wives and girlfriends out there who'd be more than happy to send us...

Speaking of...my girlfriend of 2 years doesn't get it. She thinks surfing is for groms, kids who havent grown up yet. I think its time for a new girl friend. With that in mind Im 35, have a good job/career, a car and pay my own way. All I need is one pretty lady, who likes to surf, enjoys the ocean and loves to support her man regardless of his past and is down to ride for the future.  H

I surf cause after skateboarding for a living you get tired of the same two girls always hanging around banging everyone. You get a much greater variety at the beach. .. and they dont look like trolls....

.... haha just kidding (kind of) I think everyone that truly surfs at one point or another caught that one wave where everything clicked and that was it. It wasn't much of a choice. Like I keep telling my girlfriend. I can't help it .. I HAVE TO SURF!

I started surfing because I FINALLY was lucky enough to have the opportunity to, even after everything I've been through.
I keep surfing because my luck may run out.
