Was cool watching his skill level progress within just one video. More so than even riding those waves is the skill level a 9 yer old would have to have to successfully duck dive those conditions. Good deal!

Brother, when you get a minute, could I get a list of the words that trigger these fits?

Hey. Where are we going? (And what are we doing in a hand-basket?)

The kid rips and is brave!  I will definitely watch future videos.  Music was pretty bad.  Force fields keep people apart right?

Duck diving at Hermosa is no fun at all.   If you get caught in the wrong spot it feels like an explosion the next thing you know you are at the bottom of the ocean with your leash fully streched toward the surface.  It was quite a bit bigger than that video when I was there.   After I came in I saw another guy walking up looking like he got worked and I said it's pretty rough out there huh?   Same thing happened to him but he didn't get a breath after the first hit and he really thought he was gonna die.

Yeah man.  I posted that video when I found it because I was thinking the same thing about duck diving.  I have some video of a week I spent in Hermosa and I felt closer to death in conditions that this kid was surfing than in the bigger stuff.

It was probably because I was thinking the 3-4ft w/ 6 ft sets were a good day at Sebastian Inlet or something.  I was pinned down to the bottom with all the air knocked out of me more times than I could count in... really... 3-4 ft waves.

Then surfed the 6-8ft days @ hermosa more cautiously and with less drama it seemed like.  I took off on just as many waves, I just didn't do stupid things.  Broke a board and snapped off the fins on another board but I can't remember any bad hold-downs or slammings or anything.

Anyway, that kid's got a serious future in surfing.
