Id say he got off real east....just a nibble....a full bite (from a ten foot tiger) would leave him dismembered....wierd that it came back too

There has been a Tiger in the water on the North Shore for a bit now. A buddy sent me a message last week that said " Landlord hungry for foot, I got out". This was after a Tiger Shark tried to bite a surfers foot, and only grazed him with teeth. Still cleared a line up out quick he said.

Holy SH!T, J!!!!!! ...I still don't get how you would still paddle out after seeing all those sharks a couple weeks ago. That's one of the worst ones I've ever seen.

Wow Sharkfood!  I see how you came-up with your forum name!  That looks pretty bad.

The guy in HI is lucky!  When I was there in '92 I went out at Jocko's one morning with only a few others out.  Some guy comes paddling out by me with glazed-over eyes and says w/ obvious excitement in his voice, "I just saw a huuuge dorsal fin cruise by".  It wasn't but a few minutes after that the water patrol comes-up to us on his ski as we're sitting in the line-up and says, "you better keep your toes-up boyz, there was a shark attack last evening at Chuns" (which is across the channel from Jocko's).  I kept surfing and when I got back to the beach later that morning someone had posted the newspaper story of the shark attack up on the beach.   That guy was real lucky, too.  As I recall, he had just paddled back out to the line-up and was in the process of sitting-up on his board when a Tiger shark took a massive bite out of his board, completely missing the guy.   There was a picture of the guy's board in the paper and the bite was at least 16" across and went all the way to the stringer.  The guy's only injuries were from some fiberglass cuts as he frantically paddled-in!   That year in HI had been especially bad shark-wise, with several other attacks, including a couple of fatalities!

That is definitly a serious bite. You are so blessed that it did not get the whole foot.

That's the next reef over from "Kamasugis"

Short paddle. Even shorter swim for a Tiger.

sharkfood -- please post a pic of that foot today. I'd curious as heck to see how that healed up. Can you run and walk normally ? I'm guessing you still surf IHB..

I've seen it. He's got a nice scar across it, but I would have never thought it looked like that in the before pic. Seems to function well. He kills it.

Yep, that's the Leftover right in your photo Balsa. The left is the better wave, even a little barrel on the inside slab sometimes, directly across the channel from Alligators. I surfed the right a lot as it was less crowded and I'm a regular foot, but harder to get out with no real channel on that side. That was our favorite beach on the North Shore, used to dive that reef for dinner all the time. Never saw any tigers or it would have been Foodland poke instead!
