So you all may know that the Rip Curl Pro is on and the forecast is looking pretty good. I've been watching it live all day at work. http://live.ripcurl.com/?aid=2043

Something you may not know is that while the Pro takes over a really good surf spot during this time, what do all the people who dont really care and just want to surf do? Well considering its Easter weekend as well meaning no one works Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon it would be a bad idea to go to any popular beach like Winki because of the madness of people. Actually anywhere near Torquay or Jan Juc is out of the picture.

So I figured I'd treat you to what I'll be doing this weekend once I leave the office in Melbourne.

Friday morning - 13th beach http://www.swellnet.com.au/reports/barwon-heads/daily or check out the best local report ever here http://www.rastasurfboards.com.au/Rasta/SurfReport.aspx

Friday arvo - Kennet river

One thing people don't realise about surfing in Victoria is that no one ever drives further south than Bells. So that means no matter how busy it may be in the water, just drive another 30 mins and youll get a sweet protected spot all to yourself.

Sat - Lorne point

Might be packed for easter but always has good winds.

And then who knows! 2 and a half years living here and I look forward to Autumn and Winter like crazy. Great surf no matter what or where you are. Always can go to Mornington Penninsula (Gunnamatta) or Philip Island if the surf coast sucks.

That's all...I'm done, just had to tell someone.

I was at the Bells contest back in 2001 (which had pumping surf) and was surprised that I could actually find some waves around Torquay that weren't packed. I think it was bird rock that had slabbing barrels and only a few guys out.

Phillip island seemed soooo sharkey, but I surfed Express point out there that was really fun.

Australian Made is correct, the great ocean road south of Torquay is absolutely stunning.

Dave, I was comfy in just a 3/2 at easter in Victoria!

It really depends on the day which wetty I'll hop into.

The water is still warm, maybe 18 degrees celcius which is about 63F? maybe.

But that will take a serious turn in the next few months and can get as low as 50F. Plus that on a cold 46F day you can see why I'm wearing a hood in those pics.

Victoria is know for its crazy weather - e.g. Friday it will be 31C outside and on Saturday it will be 17C. Thats a jump from 80 to 60 in a day!

gbig - I haven't made it over to the east coast yet. I remember you surfing some river mouths out that way.

I have been to Woolamai but not to surf. Crazy coast line with all the rocks, very cool.

Good memories. Surfed 13th Beach a couple times, really fun beachies. Used to surf Phillip Island a lot. Woolamai was super fun. Never surfed Express but saw it on a double-overhead day and it was nuts. Full-on slab barrels on the takeoff. Got some really fun surf in Cat Bay on some big swells, that would wrap in and clean up. Funny enough I never made it south of Bells on the Great Ocean Road.

I'd move back there in a second if I had the chance.
