Well worth the drive to Boca - Surfing Florida Exhibit - open to the public. FAU has done an outstanding job of gathering together surfing organizations and individuals interested in preserving our rich East Coast surfing history. Surfers from all over Florida contributed time, images and surfboards to make this exhibit possible. Movies are scheduled for several evenings.

Rode down there with Catri and Twombly. That was a trip in itself.

The talk by Steve Pezman was very good. And they did an awesome job putting the display together.

Was good to see you Will but aside from the visual elegance and great opportunity to see old friends the exhibit was marred by inaccuracy and outright ineptness in the section I was affiliated with, Deerfield Pier and Broward county.  I am in contact with Rod and Paul and attempting to undo the inaccurate portrayal of actual history.  Stay tuned for more read the ESM article comments section.  Blake

^^  for some reason I couldn't make your link work as I was going to but the way to do it is

type a left bracket  [

then inside type what you want it to show

type a right breacket ]

paste in the linke

type another set of breackets

and inside put /L

and don't leave any space between them...  BTW while south florida is beautiufl and I love the place - have many fond memoeries of my times down there - the places is going crazy steady downhill slide since the dadeland massacar back in the niniets ( was it 90 or earlier/later?)

Here's a quick story I did friday

http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/region_s_palm_beach_county/boca_raton/surfing-florida-a-photographic-history-on-display-at-fau-in-boca-raton

It was pretty cool to see. It's free so why not?  The covered the whole state. I didn't get a chance to read everything at the opening so I need to go back (too much scmoozing) LOL

Good job on that video James!

I guess this exhibit is going to travel. Let us know when it comes closer. I don't see myself in Boca anytime soon!

The FAU Boca Campus, as part of the exhibit, is featuring free Surfing Movies starting tonight with the classic 1969 film Evolution. As far as a traveling exhibit, please consider this unofficial, but from a good source - the NW FL Gulf Coast could host the exhibit at some point in the future. It is not a mobile unit and would require great planning to move to another location.

They do have plans to tour it all over the state.

Here's the update I just got:  The Exhibit will be a traveling exhibit with Pensacola Museum of Art is confirmed for this summer, then Miami, then Jacksonville, and possibly the Florida Natural History Museum in Gainesville for early 2013.

I did hear some talks about bringing it to cocoa but I'm not sure.  If you know a place for them, send rod or paul an email.
