you can't hide from the sun - I do not use sunblock. I eat deep colored vegetables and oils to keep my skin from drying out. Sun block is metal. it reflects and scatters the light in concentrated areas.  Where do you think it goes after you put it on? into thin air? The baby boom generation in america have been using sunblock since they were young and look at all the melanoma. The only way is to slowly build up your tolerance to the sun. I went out for 6 hours the other day and I'm slightly red. Now, I know that some people with fair "ginger" skin can't really get to this level, so they need to take break periods, and wear protective clothing. Here's an example- first day in sun:30 min - 2nd day 45min - 3rd day 1 hour- 4th day 1.5 hous ect.   People stay in their fucking cubicles all week and then go spend 4 hours in the sun on sunday!  as for that truck driver, he was probably a hard living man, drinker, drugs, no sleep, truck stop food, so yea, the sun did a number on him. Don't see any melanoma though, he prob didn't wear sunscreen.

Have had two removed...one being pre-cancer but he was not worried at all about it. He actually sponsors surf contests in puerto rico with his sunscreen and is very in tune with surfers.

HOWEVER..I have seen pictures of my mom (im 22) and her friends back in the day and they were BLACK..like ultra super mega tan..tanner than any kids I have ever seen in current time and they didnt use any sunscreen. I think that may have something to do with the current high rates of skin cancer among people 50+. None of my friends ever got as dark as her friends did.
