Awesome job!

I just got a MIG welder that I need to learn how to use. Wanted to make something along these lines:
http://bikecart.pedalpeople.com/index.html
But I'm digging your seat-attachment location a lot better.

You could sell a shitload of those up here. Everyone up here buys the Carver racks:
http://www.carversurfracks.com/csrmax.html
Those are $110, so that's your rough pricepoint to hit for retail

Add me to the list for your brother's shipment , I see them ALL the time at the beach now.

The umbrella holder is a really nice touch! Tight work man! You could easily sell this to Fisherman too, with a handle instead of bike attachment.

Unfortunately, I can't get close to the $120 mark. Aluminum wheels are not cheap, nor is aluminum tubing. I will likely be double that. The other options out there that I've found are

The Mule   at $140

Or this at $500

And these go for anywhere from $140 to $200

I saw one other one on Fleabay but can't find it now. The problem is that they won't carry anything other than your board and a few items. Mine will carry anything you can throw on it, and go up and down steps. Sure it won't fold up but it will stand up on the back frame(the wheels are tangent to the back) and you can leave it outside forever with no corrosion. Plus I think mine looks cooler I was shooting for vintage VW roof rack look.

Dave, I'm sure we can work something out to get you one. You have skills that could help me Does your Mig run gas. It will make your life much easier if it does, especially for tubing.

The Mule is no good for shortboards though.

Yours has a lot going for it that those don't in that it's more multi-purpose, so you could reach outside of just the surfing market. That's important if you really consider production runs.

Light-gauge steel and powder coating for production? Alum. as a step-up option? Looks like you're running a solid-axle too (stainless?$$$) which may or may not be overkill.

I got a small Lincoln Electric that'll use gas. I don't have a bottle yet though and don't know the first thing about welding so figured I'd get some flux-core and play around with thin-wall square tube to get started.

I sent you an email to your work address. I'm down for some bartering for sure.

The problem with powdercoated steel is that if you scratch it, it will start rusting from underneath the powdercoated surface as the rust will migrate. Bite the bullet and buy a bottle of gas and some .024 wire if you're welding thin tubing. You'll likely burn holes with the flux core because it is a really hot arc. I'll check my email.

I don't expect to sell a zillion of these things. Gotta be exclusive right? And style comes at a bit of a price. Plus at the cost it's what 25% of what most SUPs and nice longboards cost? It'll last forever as well.

So true. No need to race to the bottom for price at the expense of quality. Better to sell less of them at a higher price and actually make a little money on it and have people stoked on the quality.

Nice option I found .... all aluminum construction with trick detachable connector to the seat post .... fits short boards and expands to longboards .... has sling bag underneath to hold stuff .... reasonably priced.

Wheele Rack

Ha Ha   Me=Donkey!

I should have a couple of these done late this week I hope, although this surf might get in the way. I have some big pieces of steel to CNC mill to make really nice bending jigs.

Larry posted the one I couldn't find. It's $180, and it doesn't solve my issue. I'm always hauling a cooler and a beach shelter of some sort. Usually shovel and sand toys for the munchkins too.

Beach Cart 2.0 available soon...

I finally got time to get all the tooling built, tweak design and test, parts sourced etc... They're coming together as I write this. More updates soon.

I'm in the same boat as you! Need something that can carry on various occasions surfboards, cooler, crab traps, fishing poles, tackle boxes, rubber rafts, boogie boards, beach chairs, bearded dragon, etc, etc.

I live too close to want to drive on the beach, plus Mrs. Nsbkook hates sand in her minivan, but it's too much to schlep all this stuff by hand. This is perfect!

When can I put in my order?
