Have the pool reserved for early Oct. and would like to know what you've used in the past. It's for the night session, so I'm assuming flash, but what lens can I get away with? Currently own a Nikkor 35-70 and a Sigma 400mm. Obviously the 400 is overkill but will the 70 be enough?

I have been there quite a few times, and I can tell ya shooting at night is a challenge. Your 400 would work great at the front of the pool, shooting at the wave. And your short lens could work at the edge of the pool with a flash, but you would most likely only get them on the take off with that that lens. I hope your lenses are fast. My quickest was at f4 last time I was there, and I still had to bump the ISO to realy noisy levels on my 30D. The lights at the pool are just not bright enough for photography, unless you have a lens that stops down to like f 1.2 .
