In general, for most breaks there, is 300mm enough? Believe it or not, my next trip is my first one to C.R. ------------------------- |

If you go to Hermosa you will do ok with a 300mm since it doesn't break that far out. I usually used a 200-400mm F4 with a 1.4x t.c. for my surf shots there (little extra glass always comes in handy)
I think you will do fine with 300mm for most breaks. Where are you going in Costa? ------------------------- If it Swells....Ride it!!! http://www.ericdiller.com |

Going end of May. Hermosa first day then south to Pavones, but we're kinda flexible and we're not locked into anywhere in particular. My max focal length is my 300 f/4 with a 1.4 t.c. It's mainly a surf trip for me, but I'm definately gonna do lots of photos. For everyday walking around I'll use the 70-300 VR. (All insured, btw.) ------------------------- |

300mm will be plenty for you. was just in costa for two weeks with a 75-300mm. the only time i wanted more zoom was santa teresa and only cause it was 10+ foot and breaking a couple hundred yards offshore. below is a Pavones shot from my trip. as mentioned before, Hermosa you will have more than enough. have a blast!! |
