As a grom when i lived in NJ Scotty Duerr - Manasquan Inlet (circa mid 1980s) Joey Buran - Philadelphia Ave, Sea Girt, NJ (circa mid 1980s). He was in town to visit Inlet/Outlet surf shop since they carried Mike Baron (MB) surf boards which Joey surfed for a while. Joey and Ken (the shop owner) decided to surf Sea Girt instead of Manasquan Inlet to avoid the crowds and i happend to be in the water at the time and got to see a professional for the first time. It was a pretty cool experience. When i moved to FL in 1987 Kelly Slater - Ocean Ave/Sebastian Inlet (circa early 1990s) I and the rest of the Brevard County got to experience him surf as a grom. Like everyone else, knew he was the choosen one from early on. Kech - inlet early 90s Danny Melhado - Ocean Ave (circa early 1990s) Talyor Knox - Behind Quality Suites (Now the Crowne Plaza) in early 90s he was in town for a contest at Sebastian Inlet and he was staying at Quality Suites. I lived in the neighborhood across from Quality Suites and it was my home break for a couple years. Good swell was hitting the area and he was killing it. Mike Parsons/Bud LLamas - Boardwalk (circa early 1990s). Again, some pros in town for some reason and happend to be in the right spot at the right time. I have to say Mike was a lot SHORTER in person then i expected. Johnny Futch/Charli Kuhn - Some random afternoon behind the blueberry muffin circa early 1990s. Todd Morcom - drew him in a heat during the Easter Surf Fest in 1991. Needless to say i wound up watching him surf most of the heat....he caught every decent wave. Justin Carver - Some random afternoon at Boardwalk in early 90s. Smooth style... Joked with him about the Cantina Dos Amigos commercial in which he surfed with a sombraro on.... i am sure i am missing others, just cant think of them right now....

ken couldnt surf to save his life and that session was at new york ave in sea girt

So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. If you are an internet troll just spewing bs then f off.

Ive seen Slater, Hobgoods ect over the years and it was mind blowing. But the one who was inspiring was a Miami local named Ron Kendl in Delray in 2007 hurricane swell. I was happy with my 1.5 sec barrels in perfect A frames, but Kendal was getting 5 second dry barrels for 3 hrs and busting giant airs all over the place. Hes not a young guy either.

Your correct on both....... I never said Ken could surf, was just saying how Buran wound up at Sea Girt...... Do/did you surf Sea Girt?

KS inside Canaveral jetty after a tropical storm he might have been 9 then KS again at Indicas, Rush Reef and Garbonzos I think he was 12. Laird did awesome and beautiful things on a Longboard.
