Hey guys,

Recently found this belly board in my late uncles shed as we were cleaning out. The only thing it says on it is "Oceanside". Asked my father about it and he said my uncle purchased that in South Florida sometime in the late 60's early 70's. Anybody ever seen a board like this or ever heard of an Oceanside surf company? I am passing it down to my 4 year old who is already starting to surf and boogie board and would love to be able to pass on some history with it. Thanks in advance for any info.

That's the old Oceanside surfboards logo. Bill had the shop in Cocoa Beach, but, I don't know about south Florida. There are a bunch of guys on this site who know him a lot better than I did. (He sponsored our surf club at Satellite HS, which means we got a 10% discount and free wax, so I went in there a lot, but, I was a bit too young to know the whole shop history.) Does the board have a repair like it was a cut off old longboard? I never saw this shape before. It looks like it might have been an old Oceanside Standard that was cut off.

Thank you for the info. No repair, they bought it from a shop just like this. They said they were shaped just like this for body boarding.

I've never seen that from Oceanside. You may have a collector's item.

Is there is a shaping signature, and/or pencilled ser.# on the stringer? Post that and you'll find out more!!! I saw kneeboards for sale at Bill's shop,(Oceanside) here in the mid 70's when I was a Grom.

Unfortunatley the only markings on it are the Oceanside logo.

Thats the nose from an oceanside longboard, cut off to make a short board from the rest, or from a broken board.
When the short board revolution came in 67-68, we sacrificed some priceless longboards to be hip and make shortboards. There werent any smaller blanks yet.
I did the same thing to my brothers 9'6" con. Made a body board from the nose.
Real "paipo" boards were quite different, look em up.
It isnt worth squat, unfortunately
