On Friday eve, I visited with Rog, and he told me about all you fools on here and I couldn't resist.

I'm putting this under history,* as that remains my current surf status pending release from xth surgery. (My latest was my Second ACL replacement on left leg.) The first time, my Patella Femoral Tendon, extracted from the front of that knee just, well,. . .dissolved... disappeared.  This time they used a cadaver achilles tendon. ("Allograft.")  We'll see.

I saw that Steve H was on here; hell, even Greg Mungall. In the Summer of 1978, we stayed in HB, and I recall Steve Mc., Jeff B.(RIP), and I visiting him at some place near Laguna Beach.  George D. was also out there, driving around in a Mary Kay Bright Pink Alfa Romeo? or Fiat? convertible. We gave him grief  - from pure envy - from the four of us crammed into Jeff B's old Pinto Liftback. (Explosive model.)  (Another reason I placed this under history. )
 
To me, at least, the shock back then was how weak, mellow, and turnless was the “California cruising” version of surfing.  They didn’t seem to be hungry enough. (I guess they needed to appreciate a three month flat spell, but they’ve improve a little since then, at least.)  (And I was born in Cal.but we moved here in 1965; space program, of course.)
