I posted this in the wrong place the first time sorry . back in late 70s early 80 ther was a old guy that would come to the inlet every day . he drove a vw beetle and rode a old school longboaqrd someone told me once that him and his wife used to tandem surf out in cali. he was a real trip . never caught his name. he was what surfing is a about and proof that once you catch a wave your hooked for life. |

Remember him well ... use to know his name but it has slipped my now old mind .... he also started wearing an old school ski belt (like a small inter tube) around his waist, with his floppy hat leashed to it with a string. He would paddle all the way out to Shark Shallows and about once every 30 minutes you would see him catch a roller and he would glide all the way in and right through the line up .... if you did not get out of his way he would run you over in a heart beat. CLASSIC ol dude.
