Did anywone else know old man canova? He was a so smart, he knew the currents of the coast from the cape to ft pierce. every time the rebuilt Patrick pier, he would say, wont last a year, bad rip on the inside. His stood for decades until a hurricane took it out. Wish I was old enough to really process the info he gave me.

the old Publix behind Royal Castle had a pastry shop that i use to hit almost every morning for quite a while after delivering my Today newspapers.Ok now some later 60's man can remember when the Beatles came out with there White Album, sure lost a few brain cells to that one. I have heard more than once that if you remember much of the 60's you were'nt there.

I've known Doug Teed since the 6th grade at Surfside Elementary.  Unfortunately, he was murdered by his brother-in-law in April, 2009.  Apparently, the b-i-l was psychotic, and had beaten up his sister, Kim (Doug's wife at the time).  Doug and his wife had taken out a restraining order, but the guy showed up at Doug's door one morning around 10:00 a.m., demanding to see his mother, an elderly woman who was living with Doug and Kim.  Kim was in the bedroom and heard Doug answer the door and say, "What are you gonna do, shoot me?"  Then she heard a couple of shots fired and found Doug dead on the floor from a gunshot wound to the chest.  The b-i-l got 15 yrs to life.  Very sad.  Apparently, there was a huge memorial service at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, where he was a devout member.

Yes, Kurt died, I believe in a car wreck, and it was before our 20th SHS reunion, so it must have been before 1993.

Damn shame we had some great times together many a day his mother would haul us up to the NCO Club to surf. Many great times spent just hanging out on the beach there at second light. Couldn't count the burgers we had at Royal Castle and the hotdogs at Lums.

Wow, blown away about doug. He was the first really great surfer that I knew. First guy to get me stoned and my mom would feed him until he burst. When the surf got good while we were in SBH we would set off the fire alarm and when they would line us up behind the mall next to SBH we would just back up until we were gone! R.I.P. Doug, good frends never die.

What i wouldn't give to be able to go back to those old days when we would walk to school down the beach and if the surf was good enough maybe not even make it to school. Camping out on the beach without worrying about going to jail or worse. Getting my ass eat up by the coral there around second light.

If the surf was good MABEY not make it ti school? Good one! Try having a bonfire on the beach with your buds now. While we arent young, we lived, surfed and had pre aids chicks. Would not trade my life for Slaters!

I cant really relate to any of these stories, but man keep the old stories/pictures coming.. My mom did once tell me a story about how her and her friends would drive up from West palm beach and paddle from the south side of sebastian inlet to the north side because there wasnt a bridge there yet, she got hooked in the leg by a fisherman trolling through the inlet when they paddled behind the boat when it past by... she said she was in her teens. which would put it late 60's
