Hey WD, I asked Joey Twombly about the picture and he remembers it.
He said the girl is Barbara McMillan and it was taken in 1968 as a promotion
For the Florida Tourism Board.
It was after his days with Hobie, and Hansen had given him the board.
He remembers the shoot as being down south near the inlet.
He says they gave them lunch, treated them nice, and actually paid
them!
Joe says some people have seen that picture and thought it was Tabeling -
according to Joey you can always tell them apart by the noses, both were
big, but Joe's has a bump from being broken.

Wasn't sure where to post this picture so I thought I would put it here. Found it while browsing the floridamemory.com website. The photo is dated 1981. It has to be Kech. Thoughts? Yeah that's Matt for sure....front foot leash. |

I'm almost positive it's the building where Bernard Fischer's opened the original Bernard's Surf on October 30, 1948. Below is a more recent photo of the property (prior to the sale by Rusty in 2006). The similarities are too obvious to miss.
