A group of seeds landed at a local garden.  Advice was to plant where trees are wanted because they're hard to transplant, even as seedlings.  I'm willing to guess that it should be possible to move seedlings around shortly after germination.  There's more or less enough space for a few.

Advice?

I've gotten a suggestion to put them in (big) PVC.

I've been successful with either deep pots or 7 gallon larger pots. I knew they had germinated and rooted sufficiently when I saw the cotyledonary stalk show at the bottom of the pot. The challenge is then planting it correctly before the first shoot (frond) has been produced. I have made the mistake of planting it too deep and then got an in-grown frond...I went to check on it and had to dig out the shoot, which seemed to be growing the wrong way. I have also had ants infest one before it could establish. Getting them to germinate in a large pot didn't seem to be a problem. I've also seen people cut the bottom out of a 1 gallon and place the seed in it, with the one gallon placed on top of a 5 or 7 gallon. This makes for a deeper pot.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Check PalmTalk, the International Palm Society's forum.  You've figured it out.

At least two seeds are firmly staying in place when given a pull.  Probably the two that had just begun germination.

The parent tree is a whopper!
