they are around.  The one cold snap last week made them scarce, but there are still some around.  Last week I was getting big fatties with every hand scoop, no metal seive required.

Thats weird up in jax they would only bite clams, then only wanted fresh river shrimp(not the publix kind).

Fishbites always seems good to add, and I have had luck with green or pearl beads above the hook.....strange fish, but one thing i have seen to be true, the biggest ones in the jax area are caught on chunks of blue crab, my personal best was caught on a "calico" crab(look like a blue but are in the surf)!

Maybe try your baits on a single hook fishfinder rig(sliding egg or pyramid on the mainline with a swivel to light leader) and a small hook.

I have caught them on that rig while the tradditional dropper rig wasnt getting touched.

LOL tried at "hangerless" Saturday, got a couple real nice whiting and a few throw back pomps.

Fleas were in small pods but good size at high tide, but the fish all ate frozen clams!?

My buddy in Ponce is still getting them so more to come

LOL I keep saying Im going to book a charter with Larry "Pompano man" Finch. He is out of jacksonville but fishes the whole coast of FL and catches pomps almost year round!

He has a few funny videos on youtube and wears a signature white and black flanel shirt, if you see him your in the right spot!

Rode the beach on my bike in Daytona every morning the last week.  Saw more than a couple of folks catching good size pompano.  The next door app is lit up  in Indialantic about some guys raping and pillaging the fleas here.  I remember the guy from Wildcat coming down to fill his buckets to sell back in the 90's when I used to fish (a lot). It only takes a few folks to really do some damage with big scoopers.  I only use my hands to get them now.
