Growing up my Dad always had a boat so we didn't do much fishing from shore or off docks/bridges. We still fish inshore with him South of Marco Island when we visit but the boys are starting to show some interest so I want to be able to take them fishing around Satellite. They see kids fishing in the little pond by the skatepark/library and fishing the canals off bridges.

What's the best bang for our buck from a time perspective? Get some shrimp and set up by the Eau Gallie causeway? Want to get them started on something where we are gonna catch fish even if it's junk fish....once they're hooked we'll work on patience and targeting better fish.

Thanks for any tips

The little ponds by the library (western one is better) have some small bass and sunnies.
Simple gear and live worms (or rubber worms) will get them catching something and having fun, but no keepers.
My kids also had fun at the river piers, but more likely to get skunked, which might be a turn off for a first try for kids.

This time of year, fishing from the beaches with anything, lures or live/cut bait. I'm fairly impatient as a fisherman myself, so I mainly fish with artificials when I'm not offshore in my boat. In fact, I'm getting ready to head down to the beach right now since the tides filling in. Best times are early am/late afternoons when the tide is incoming/ near full high. If you want to pm me, I'll even give you a tip on sure fire lures guaranteed to get you fish!
