This could be Russian operatives eliminating witnesses. This guy might not have been a leaker but a mole. There is plenty of speculation on who murdered him and why, but it's an absolute fact Russia was hacking the DNC's computers and funneling the dirlty laundry directly to wiki leaks to compromise Hillary Clinton and give the information a false pedigree like it was leaked by an honest whistle blower instead of the truth: it was stolen by Russian state actors.

You guys might want to give this stuff some time to see how it plays out before you go making up your minds about things. IP addresses can be spoofed. Phone numbers can be spoofed. I would stay a bit more open-minded about all of this until we have more information. Just because you want a scenario to be true and there is a chance of it being true doesn't mean that you should assume that is the case and that this is an open and shut case. I want the truth, regardless of whether or not the truth disappoints me.

Its an alternate explanation to WikiLeaks getting the hacked source material from someone other than the Russians. Its not true. If it were, there would be evidence and that evidence would have come from WikiLeaks, who would have no further obligation to protect their source once he was dead.

Fox News Settles Suit With Family of Murdered DNC Staffer Seth Rich Joel and Mary Rich filed the suit over a May 2017 story that claimed their son had leaked thousands of DNC emails to Wikileaks before his death. Fox News later retracted the story, saying it was "not initially subjected to [a] high degree of editorial scrutiny." Joel and Mary Rich sued the network in March 2018 for infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit was dismissed by a district judge, but later revived by an appeals court. In a statement, Joel and Mary Rich said they were pleased by the settlement, and said they hoped the media would exercise greater caution in the future.
