Who can blame her....
Spotting its pearlescence, her mother suspected the "Moana rock" was actually something more, perhaps "millions of years old." Earlier this month, her suspicions were confirmed when paleontologists revealed the rock was actually a fossil of a marine invertebrate called an ammonite, which went extinct some 65 million years ago. fox news science ------------------------- Specializing in sarcasm and condescending rhetoric since 1971. |

not to derail, because this is awesome, but my GF's 8 year old son started soccer- although we frown upon the digging perhaps we should encourage it! lol

my favorite little kid soccer game was when somebody, bored, started feeding the seagulls and about a hundred landed on the field and all the kids started chasing seagulls and totally forgot about the game no fossils (except me) were effected ------------------------- add a signature since I'm here in profile anyway |

Why do so many kids play soccer?
Because they can't stand to watch it. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

Florida has plenty of fossils, but they're mostly more recent. In Vero, they aren't even fossils. |

My pops was a geologist at the phosphate mines for most of his life and acquired an impressive fossil collection. My brothers and I kept a few choice Meg teeth, but most have been donated around to polk county schools and libraries.
