Also on the "road trip" idea this one this in NYC sounds interesting.

It is in memorium of a firefirghter who litterally ran from Brooklyn through the tunnel into Manhattan to help on 9/11. All of the proceeds go to a charity, I belive ran by his family, and you know a bunch of NYFD & NYPD finest will be out there!  Looks like they close down the tunnel on the Gowanus appraoch so you get to run through it follwing the route he actaully took....
