Saturday October 31, 2009 from 9am till 2pm

Location: Paradise Beach aka Howard E. Futch Memorial Park

We will be in the medium pavillion on the south end of the park and also on the beach under some pop-up tents.

Alcohol is allowed but it cannot be in a glass container, BYOB. Hot dogs will be grilled around noon and we will also have a cooler of water, free of charge while supplies last. If you feel so inclined, bring whatever you would like to throw on the grill.

A very limited supply of t-shirts will be on hand for sale at cost, first come first serve. The shirts showed up, they turned out nice and clean!

Come on out, bring your fish or other stick and take part in the festivities. Once again, this is totally grassroots, you surfers are the ones who make this get together unique and special. Hope to see you there!

I added the flyer, feel free to print this out and post up in your local surfshops or eateries.

Pending wave forecast:

I'll be bringing a 6'0 Larry Maible (Kane Garden), shaped with sort of a modern performance spin on a retro-keel-twin

Not mine, but the same outline:

AND, speaking of Larrys, a Larry Mayo 6'0 rounded pin quad.

Also, I've got some keel fins I'd be interesting in trading!!!

Thats a beautiful board. Are any of the shapers coming out and bringing demo boards?

I think that this is more of a anything but a 3 fin shortboard.

Its more to feature unique shapes.

Classic and modern fish boards

Single fins, old and new, long and short

Quads new and old

5 fin bonzers. or what ever bonzer u have.

anything thats different.

So bring a open mind and just have fun.

I plan on bringing a twin fin fish and a old single fin.

Bill, that will look like a shark among the fish.

Talked briefly to Forstall today. There will be a fresh school of Coda Fish there and a must see old school creation done in epoxy. I cannot wait for that.

Heck yeah Bill, bring that. You can be my tugboat out to the lineup and my blocker on the set waves. Please don't mind if I draft!

I'll be riding a seldom-used fish that I'm not really used to, so I'll need all the help I can get.

Obviously yes, I have it penciled in too, but sorry Lance, I don't think I'll have time to help with the setup. I'll buy an XL T-shirt for sure if you make them.

This should be fun. I wonder if DaveFL76 could donate a keg and maybe some wings for the event? If not donated I'll chip in for some good beer.

Me too! Though I have no Fish to "fry" I will observe, meander around, be hypercritical and be the general pain in the arse I usually am.

I like the LB more, but I think it's just personal preference. I've had both, and would take either over any beer I can find at Albertsons/Walmart/ect!

It's fresh local salmon.
If you have time, please show up Friday,
at the waterfalls,
south fork of the Sebastian River,
to help us net them.
Bring your bear repellant.

Hmmm, how to bump a sticky thread. That's a new one.

Anyway, Jose added a flyer to the first post in the thread for those who want to spread the word on recycled paper products.

Bring your creations...like this:

Oddly appealing t-hole...I bet it rides pretty good!

I took my shot at shaping years ago, it looked good on the stand, but dammit...I'd always put a twist in it somehow. after ruining a half dozen blanks I decided paying the bills something other than late was more important.

Hey, Thole's board is not bad at all. You need to pay attention to what has shown up at other fries - and then you'd know.

And, I'm trying to get the retired LtC next door to let me bring his MR twinny.

Hearing of more guys who are bringing sick boards to this thing. Should be a good time.

We are super stoked on the feed back we are getting, Things seem to be shaping up real nice for this Florida Fish Fry.
More shapers are letting us know there going to be there, and the Fin comps also are getting on board (pardon the Pun) And I'm hopping the stick bumps wax will be there.

just got a word that we might be getting some beer. Not final but looks pretty good.

those beers suck, try Mojo IPA (sells at Winn-Dixie and gas station by Haru) MUCH better beer for alternative surf craft owners/afficianados

Those beers don't suck especially the LB Lager, and I've never liked IPA's. The best brew that they make IMO is the Pipeline Porter, but then I prefer Stouts or Porters, and will throw in an Ale or Lager every now or then to change things up once in awhile.

Oh Back to the Boards is there a list of Shapers attending yet? Currently have a Quad Fish from Mayo, and a Floaty Fish from Neilson, thinking about picking up a Twinzer soon.

Lets not look a gift horse in the mouth. as they say. (still don't know who they are but)
And I, have never tried this beer but the kona folk are nice enough to hook it up so I hope you'll enjoy it none the less.

For Shapers it looks like

Steve Forstall

Brian Tudor (BAT surfboards)

Chris Birch

Neilsons

Ricky Carrol

C T taylor

and as of now thats all I know. There is talk of others but still not sure.
Although I do think a lot more will show.

Stay stoked!

Just bring it man. If it has three fins, don't be alarmed if someone brings it back with two.

There are no sign in sheets as of yet. (could be a good idea) But I think each shaper that brings boards to demo will have there own way of keeping track of them. Maybe just as simple as leaving your ID and phone #, some may want a C/C # just incase. We will just have to see how this works out. Now, if you personally bring a board to let others try then it will be up to you to keep track of it. and we should respect how each one wants to handle demoing boards. but just keep it simple. that seems to work best.

We need to all be together on making sure no board goes missing.

Usually something like ths is more of a car show atmosphere.. Look and touch and discuss.... I would say dont let someone try your board unless you know them.

One rule I try to stick to when it comes to surfing:

If it's good where you're at, don't leave to surf somewhere else.
