My fantasy teams have been terrible so far also. I'm in 53rd overall in the 2ndlight league. Yikes. Who would've thought that JJF would be in Tier C. Most surprising performances so far have been from Tomas Hermes and Michael Rodriguez. Excellent surfing from those two. Most disappointing performances are JJF and Jordy Smith. I expect the scales will balance soon. My money is on either one of them for Margaret River.

I'm terrible. All the competitors are all fun to watch. The younger guys have no clue they are supposed to pay dues. The older guys rip. I usually dump guys the contest before they go ballistic. They all can. Hope there is some North Point or Box!

Anybody else see John Florence ride over a "dolphin" in his round 1 Heat? It was his second to last wave with 8 minutes 15 seconds to go. Apparently we're on hold right now because of a shark incident close by. This looks dolphiny though (although I don't trust them either).

I was watching the first day and started thinking it looks kind of like there would be big sharks with a northern California look but then thought well they don't mention sharks probably because they are offshore with plenty of food. Wrong. Medina and Italo openly complaining about safety.
Surfing = sharks. a drawback for sure |

And so it is cancelled due to dead rotting whales causing shark frenzies 6k from the competition site.
The lasting impression of Mick getting slapped by a Great White at J-Bay is etched in my mind. Or the attack where the Japanese tourist was bitten in half as the beast came from below and launched him straight in the air. Or the attack where the beast bit the man in half and the lifeguard rode out on the jetski to retrieve the upper torso for the victim's family and the beast fought for it and took it down into the dark depths. All this in western Oz in the past 2 years. Carry on WSL. |
