Hi all-

I know this question has come up a bunch of times, but in light of the recent Hurricane, I figured I'd ask for new info.

My 14 yr old son and I are thinking of attempting to do a spur of the moment surf trip to Puerto Rico the 1st week of April.

I've never been there, never surfed there, and really don't know Spanish.

I'm wondering what the state of hotels are after Maria, and if this is a do-able idea at this time.

We are looking for some non-scary wave spots.. we like waist to maybe head high conditions, in warm water. If we can score that, we will be stoked.

I'm looking for hotel recommendations, wave spot recommendations, and general advice in any way.. (renting cars, boards, etc)

I know zero about Puerto Rico, so I'll take any help/info I can get!

Thanks in advance

I can't recommend Ocean Ave Guest House enough. I first found them on a link from Wavecaster's site and have stayed with them twice. Josie and Maria are awesome people and it's a great location. Josie was always helpful with recommending different spots based on ability and conditions and just as important he hooked us up with vital local knowledge on where to eat as there are some great spots around Isabela and Aguadilla. Rooms are clean and they just installed a cool deck on the property . Went once just the wife and I and a couple years ago we took our boys who were 5 and 7 at the time.

B, let's talk this weekend. Is it his Spring Break? If you could wait a week, I could join you. I could introduce you to Sherry and maybe arrange a trip to Brian Bruner's, as I have yet to see his place. Sandy beach is the best for mellow, assuming it's not pumping from the north.

I go down to Rincon several times a year, I was just there last month and am going back in 3 weeks. I can steer you in the right direction and give you some contacts there, PM me your # if you want and we'll chat.
