A waste of tax payer dollars to begin with. Doing it during the biggest swell we have had in a long time .....idiots. Trucks dumping sand only for it to be gone a few hours later.

Someone probably should be held accountable for that.

Well no shit. However, there should be oversight. Seems like a fraud, waste, and abuse issue.

The whole sand dumping effort is futile and a waste, so the only positive is that the sand is quickly gone and won't affect the breaks.

You can't fix stupid.

"Save The Mid-Reach" facebook group has a pretty good video up that shows a dump truck just about getting washed away in the shorepound and continue dumping sand.

So stupid.

Government jobs with tax payer dollars have oversight to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse. It seems to me this could be a case of it.

Ok, stirrymcStalker. That is why basically every IG audit finding or investigation happens after work starts on a government job. I guess you have no sense

they might operate differently than us too because military based, not sure

my guess is they have a schedule that has them finishing before turtle nesting season, so they probably just can't stop, and then pick up again because they will have to stop and they most likely have to spend the money.  Just a guess.

Noticed the other day at Perk that they were mostly women on the jobsite, 3 dumptruck drivers and a foreman. Wonder if it's an eeoc or minority awarded contract.

At Scorpion Court today, they put sand up to the bottom of the boardwalk. I think it was 10 feet of vertical sand.
Can't wait for the next "sand taker"!

They're just putting a pile of sugar waiting for hot coffee to wash it down the drain.

We humans acheive great things, and sometimes not so much.

Yep it's because of the turtle people. They have to work everyday per their contract. Yep putting sand on the beach seems stupid (is stupid) but without it we would be relocating A1A before ya knew it.

Ok, so their contract says they have to dump even when their is no beach to put sand on from the tide and waves. Makes sense as to why they were doing it, but not as to why someone mandated that. Lol

Let's not just talk about it, it was the county commissioners and state legislators (Bill Posey) who allowed this project to get funded. The county gets money for 'monitoring' this project which pays salaries.

To effect change, we need to vote them out in November and put in leaders who don't cater to the dredge lobby. And meanwhile, write letters to the Florida Today lamenting this waste of taxpayer money.

Beaches just north of the pier in Vero Beach actually gained sand elevation in the past 2 days.

Wish I had a drone.  I suspect a big streamer of sand has been deposited south of Vero's Riomar Reef.  Doesn't look like South Beach has lost anything.

I seriously doubt Satelitte beach could afford the loss of property tax. I know the residents wouldn't want to see the increase if they lost all those condo's. Rumor has it Sateliite is in some pretty deep doo doo with their sewage system.

It is pretty cool how mother nature can strip away man's work in a blink of an eye. Some beaches lose sand some gain. Who knows maybe if we just left alone it would be fine.

Sand is a pretty good representation of government spending as a whole.

Seem like the developers of the pair of 9 (?) Story condos saw obvious problems with upcoming sales unless there was some sand in front..

Did they get the ball rolling? greased someone's palms? favors?

Also noticed a couple new faces at LungRX checking it out - like 'inspection time' inside & out.. Hmmmm... New players?

When will they put in our new access path?

John Stone, Sat Bch, Bldg Dept told me over a year ago the access path would be 25 feet wide and granted to the city at C.O. of the twin towers of hell. I talked to him a month ago and it turned into 12 feet wide! Not sure what happened there. So it will be 2019 when/if it happens. The Gov signed into legislation the ability for Condos/beachfront owners to prevent us from crossing the beach in front of them and I'm sure the twin towers of hell will be first in line to enforce.

I'd sign up for that. relocate A1A. Take the condos off the beach. Simple solution.

Deep south Brevard beaches got a surprising dose of new dredge fill (thought it was only going south to Boardwalk or thereabouts~) and the thing that really pisses us off is (the fact it's being done at all is secondary at the moment to this) whoever the spreader operator was at our access, was either instructed to or took it upon hisdamnsef (i guess thinking it'll look nice or it's deemed nessasary whateverthef---) to instead of grading a parallel edge up along the dune growth N/S as (ie: snowplowing rural roads), made occasional mind you, indents following the slightest opening in the dune line ie: access path's, small natural recessions of the vegetation with TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE SEAOATS/CREEPING VINES, COVERING I'D SAY,, THE FRONT 15% OF THE VEGETATION!!!!! that we/they are protecting to protect us from eroding the dunes. What the hol- flying --c-?! I've not spoken out either way to the issue much until this-- It's like telling everybody you're turn'in left then immediately turn ------- RIGHT-

And he's running for the US Senate. I'm ticked. Been here since 1965 going wherever I please on our beaches and now this?

Here's a question?

So are these private beach owners going to pay for their own beach renourishment?

They kick us out, then taxpayers revolt!

There are way more non-oceanfront residents in Fla. Than oceanfront.

Be careful what you ask for fools.

Take twin towers of hell for instance:

They block us, then THEY can only walk in front of THEIR condo.

The last time I checked, many condo people walk the beach for miles. So they are all now restricted to their little strip.

There are so many dimensions to this foolish law.

I think it's unconstitutional, but some lawyer will school me as to why I am wrong.

The ocean is coming, I hope their plans include a break-wall.

The high water mark in Brevard is A1A, I wonder how they will factor that into the new law.

A new law to privatize beaches. What a horrible sounding sentence.

Then they put all that sand pressed up against the dune of which the Mrs was able to perch on for choice photos. Now they have put sprigs of grasslings in place like that's going to shore it up. What a joke.
