Depends on the conditions. My team is based on Snapper being the junk that it has been the last couple of years. Mick's in there based on it getting like the year Kelly won. |

Kelly looked great but in his first heat J-flo and Mick showed more flare. Second he knocks out Nat so that's pretty good! The judges gave Steph a score in her heat she didn't deserve. aussie aussie bs |

I opened up a club a couple years back on the surfer mag fantasy site. I prefer that format of selecting guys based on a budget, where their values fluctuate. Adds a little more gamble and art to it. But I figured I'd join you guys on the WSL format last minute. Surprised I'm doing well. I never do well at this contest.

The backside surfing was nuts and there were 3 goofy's in the semis. But I started thinking the judges might have been overly enamoured with the backside smacks and possibly underscoring the nuances and choices of the frontside kine guys. I thought JJ should have moved through that semi with Wilko. Andino got no respect doing some pretty great airs but not getting scores. Coffin missed derailing Wright by .5 Great first contest compared to recent years.

I also think the regular footers knew the goofy's had an advantage with their tight snaps and were over compensating their frontside turns to point that they were screwing up. "were over compensating their frontside turns to point that they were screwing up" I thought that too. Frontsiders were searching for what to do. Frontside: Get a tube, cutback, air, off the lip? Backside: Lay the hammer down... Still a great contest though. The surfing was nuts and judges can't always get it Wright! My fantasy choices are terrible. By the time Bells is done I'll be in 55th place! |
