Contest/Festival will benefit the Melbourne High School Surf team and the Surfrider Foundation. Help support MHS continue to build on their successful 3rd place finish at NSSA nationals this year in CA to a 1st place finish in '14!! Lot's of East Coast pride at stake here!! We'll have a special package for those contestants who want join Surfrider that week-end as well. You can 'talk' about sand dredging, beach access loss, etc. all you want on this forum, but doesn't it make sense to get involved? Together we can make ourselves heard! Cute categories but you know what happens. There will be like 3 lawyers competing each gets a trophy yet there are 50 Regular Joes competing for one of three. Same thing happened in the DLWW where the Drs had a few and WW was everyone else. Should figure a way to even things out a bit.

good point- though they are including lawyers and paralegals and law secretaries and bout anything that has to do with law- other than a police officer so that may include a few more in that category. But you are right, too many regular joe's maybe a division for construction workers, like blue collar, white collar and red collar for the rednecks? |

The focus at SIRJ will be on having fun, getting a few cracks at first peak or the main left, and supporting Surfrider Foundation and the Mel High Surf Team. I'm sure the organizers will consider constructive input on fine-tuning the divisions for the future. This is the beginning of a new annual tradition at the inlet. Get ready!! |

Regular Joe offers the chance to book a 4-man (or 4-girl) heat with your friends, and save a few $s on entry at the same time. Then you get to surf with your friends through both days of event. |

Contest is limited to first 96 people who sign up so if you're waiting for forecast it's out now, Swell should arrive on Wednesday and hold through Saturday. Heats are filling up and a great option we have going is book a foursome and save on admission. For you golfers you know how fun it is to compete with your bro's for bragging rights! Qualifications for Super Heat ;1] There is one qualifier from each of the six divisions.2] Qualification is determined by the two top heat scores over the two days of the contest.3] The heat score is determined by the top two waves in the heat.4] The top score possible is 40 points.5] Judging is based on ASP judging criteria for four man heats.
