The canon 100mm 2.8 lens is what most photographers with canon cameras use to take macro images. It can also be used to take good portraits as long as you have a relatively close range with respect to the subject. It is one of the best macro lens out there. You can go super, super close by adding inexpensive extension tubes. It's worth the price. As always, if you want to move to something else, it holds a very good resale value. I do a lot of macro flower images with this lens. If you want to see some examples, check out my web site at http://www.peterbschillingphotography.com/

Thank you for taking the time to explain in details. Your experience with the Canon 100mm appears to be in line with the various reviews I had been reading lately. It is no wonder that this lens has a hefty price tag compared to the Tamron and Sigma lenses.
I would be delighted to look at your close-up shots in your website. |
