Hey guys, I have a raised bed garden box and I need a little bit of basic gardening advice. I've been told that it all starts with good dirt and well draining soil. So I created my own dirt mix, using what I had: pine mulch, topsoil, potting soil, peat, and perlite. The garden box is located in a shady spot in the yard and I kind of leave it alone with an occasional watering and liquid fertilizer (water about 1x/ week, fertilize 1x/ month). I'm mostly growing easy to grow herbs and lettuce: cilantro, basil, oregano, cabbage, sage, tomato... but nothing seems to be growing. Could the pine bark have made the soil to acidic? How do I fix this without digging it all up? |
