I hit a pothole pretty hard and bent the rim a bit. It's really not that bad but I know it's out of round and I find the vibration rather annoying. Thanks!

was it eau gallie heading west at the split ? That left lane is rim murder. talked to wheel refurb guy in west melbourne on Ellis, just west of wicham road. (possibly it was sarno west of wicham -we need to get to them too for refinishing a 20" truck wheel). there are a few in fort lauderdale too - but I heard that local guy is just as good. takes a few days. ------------------------- it's never too late to have a happy childhood... |

Depending on the severity I would agree with Burry. However, cruzin gold (off 192 in West Melb near i-95) fixed one of my buddies rims a few years back with good results. Might try them. http://www.cruisin-gold.com/auto-repairs/wheel-rim-repair.aspx |

Thanks!
I hear what you're saying about replacing, but it's only out of round by about 1/4 of an inch. Just enough for me to notice. No stress fractures that I can see, and I'd find it hard to believe there were any with as minor as the bend is, so I think it's repairable. The cheapest new OEM wheel I can find is over $600. what kind of car? Also, try LKQ auto dismantlers. They are like a stock market for insurance-total-out cars being parted out. Got a used engine from them once for a great deal. They have wheels too... office near Rockledge

Tony, it's a Porsche 997.2 -- thanks for the links; good find!
And I wish I hadn't looked on eBay like was suggested... now I'm itching to get a whole new set of wheels well out of my budget! |

That’s a cool car. Did rock auto rock on price ? I got 2 wheels for a volvo on rock auto and 3 years later look new and better than the car still. No sand blasting on them after 30K of fast highway miles. Great quality - factory fit/refurb/color/finish. Actually better finish than factory. ------------------------- it's never too late to have a happy childhood... |

with the old one ==> find that $175 refurb shop in Plantation or FTLaud and rebuild it on the ground shipping cheap. when they hear porsche I'd bet the price jumps a little, so tell them its a 19 or 20" bent rim for the quote and then work in the factory finish add-on. Id also spring for new tire pressure sensors too while you have the rim apart. got to be some computer button sequence to re=learn the pressure sending unit locations. just saves $$ from dismount/remount. ------------------------- it's never too late to have a happy childhood... |

Olympits machine shop on Forsythe in Orlando can repair it. They do it the right way and have fixed 3 or 4 of my wheels in the past. (Cracked lip, bent lip, etc.) They are around $80 to fix a wheel last time I used them. |
