During the past swell I witnessed some great surfing (some not so good too) and on a variety of boards. I was curious to know what board and size worked best for you. Did anyone discover a quiver killer? There were quite a few guys killing it on, what appeared to be, really short boards. I tried a few out myself, from a single fin Channel Island and my standard thruster, but I've realized that there isn't much that Ricky Carroll's RC/DC shape can't handle. It seems work in all conditions. I'm 150lbs and the 5'8" seems to always work great. Single fin is fun, but it will be posted on the for sale forum soon. Just a lot of foam for my liking.
I'm looking to mix up my quiver and just wanted to hear what everyone had the most success riding.
Cheers.

I felt like the majority of surfers were either under or overgunned. Im 5'10 @ 170lbs and rode a 6'1 @ 30L round tail traditional shortboard - I usually ride a 5'9 @ 28L squash tail. I still wish I had something longer with more foam to up my wave count and a bit more control on the face. I noticed the extra pulled in nose of my 6'1 also seriously helped combat the offshore winds while paddling for a wave Edited: 03/10/2018 at 02:03 PM by Julianuribe23 |

I found the guys on the stubbier boards having more success on Wednesday compared to the guys on the step ups or the longer boards. Anyone out there riding a stubby board with success on Wednesday? I was considering riding my 5'2" Black Rose Thin Lizzy but didn't. I'm wondering how it may have handled. It paddles great and I was thinking the less length would have been beneficial with the off shores. Not to mention it can out run most sections.
Thanks for the responses.

Channel Islands 7' "Water Hog" is what I rode until Friday. Then my 9' QF twin fin. I'm 6'2" 225 so although these seem like big boards for most, these are go to boards all the time. If / when I get back down to 205 my 6'6" will be in play. -------------------------

You can snag those macking backdoor A-Frames. The one having the most fun wins. |

just returned from 2 weeks in the mountains missed the waves, you all are welcome ------------------------- "I remember South Africa in the late 70's, sleeping on the beach at J-bay, smoking ganja with the blacks. On weekends we'd go to the pub in East London to drink beer and fight with the Afrikaners. They liked to fight, I liked to fight. It was a good time" |

5'11" Quiet Flight short board with Q-Flex (epoxy). Used all large fins and didn't have any issues at all. It was big in CFL, but not big enough to need a step up if you picked the right times to surf last week.
