It's an area I need to visit.  Beautiful coastal Zamia cycads, big relatives of our native coonties, coastal forest, and a cycad enthusiast from Kauai (an enthusiastic surfer) who spent a good deal of time and effort visiting and figuring out these exotic plants, was impressed by the surf.

Fully Enjoy! One of the best surf trips of my life, and if Del Toros isn't on from lack of swell/direction, cruise South to a lil bay island called Isla Grande. It picks up almost any swell, and 5 clicks North from that is a gnarly left reef pass called Cacique that can be World Class, but, extremely shallow, sharp, LIVE coral bottom!! Bottom line; There is waves everywhere if you have a good 4wd rental and the time and gumption to go searching!!! Cacique is like a mini version of Resteraunts!!!

Hey bud, If you need some guidance other than Red frog bungalows which in on Isla bastimentos. Beautiful island but double the price to stay and eat- then check out habitations on Isla Caranero or Isla colon. I have been numerous times and have a buddy that runs a great little airbnb setup on the bay in isla colon and has lots of experience surf guiding with access to boats and trucks. Send me a PM if you want details . All the best! I love that place.

The Caribbean side is the call for winter for sure but check swell models before leaving as there can still be plenty of south swells on the Pacific side at any time of year.

When in BdT, take a trip up to Puerto Viejo for some Salsa Brava.

Are you taking a puddle jumper from the City? or renting a car?  What is best?
